Dr. Izabela Irena Rzeznicka

She is a Surface Chemist and Catalysis Researcher with an interest in the sustainable conversion of biomass and lignin into functional carbon materials for energy applications. Her major research area is the design of nanostructured electrocatalysts for renewable energy systems. Specific areas of research include the valorization of agricultural residues such as bagasse and straw into lignin-derived carbons, their application as electrodes in electrochemical energy devices, and the development of biochar-based catalyst inks for printed and flexible energy technologies. She is also engaged in international collaboration linking Japan and Brazil to advance circular economy approaches to biomass utilization.
